Borussia Monchengladbach have completed the signing of USA midfielder Michael Bradley after he passed a medical on Monday.

The 21-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga new boys after joining from Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen.

Monchengladbach coach Jos Luhukay had been keen to strengthen his squad to avoid an immediate return to the second division.

He told the club's official website: "He is strong in combination play and makes important runs off the ball. Michael is also a goal threat from midfield."

Bradley travelled to Germany on Monday, having already agreed personal terms with Monchengladbach.

The two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee on Saturday night, but the player remained with Heerenveen for their Eredivisie fixture with Volendam on Sunday.

Bradley's arrival takes the number of Monchengladbach players with Eredivisie experience to six.

"We know this league and its players best," added Dutchman Luhukay. "We have a very positive picture of Michael."

Bradley added: "I know that Borussia has a great history and superb fans.

"I can help out in attacking and defensive midfield and want to display my fighting qualities."

Bradley, who scored an impressive 15 goals in 33 games for Heerenveen last season, has played 22 times for the USA national team.

He could make his Bundesliga debut against Hannover on September 14 after he returns from international duty with the USA.
