Borussia Dortmund defender Dede has been suspended for four matches following his red card in the Westphalian derby against Schalke on Sunday.
The Brazilian full-back was given his marching orders in the 76th minute of the 3-2 defeat for a dangerous tackle on Schalke's Ivan Rakitic.
The German Football Association's disciplinary committee met on Monday to discuss the incident and sanctioned a four-game ban.
Both the player and his club have accepted the punishment, which takes effect immediately and rules the 29-year-old out of fixtures with Energie Cottbus, Hansa Rostock, Werder Bremen and Hertha Berlin.
He will return for the trip to Hamburg on March 15.
