Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn believes Saturday's 1-1 draw with Schalke will be good for the Bavarians in the long term.
It was Bayern's second successive draw in the Bundesliga and allowed the chasing pack to close in on the league leaders, who had threatened to run away with the championship after three straight wins.
"It is not so bad because it calms down this annoying euphoria about us," said the 38-year-old.
Kahn is currently in excellent form and made a crucial save just before half-time to keep the score at just 1-0 for Schalke.
His retirement from international football a year ago has allowed him to concentrate on Bayern, and this worked to his advantage this weekend as much of the squad appeared tired after representing their countries.
"The signs were not so good with the international games," he added.
"We were lacking around 10% today because we could not prepare as we would have wanted, and you could tell."
Bayern now have three days in which to prepare for their first UEFA Cup fixture in over a decade when they welcome Belenenses to the Allianz Arena.
