The future of Hertha Berlin goalkeeper Christian Fiedler hangs in the balance after it was confirmed on Sunday he has torn cruciate knee ligaments.
The 33-year-old has been ruled out of action for six months and will miss at least half of next season after twisting his knee during his side's 1-0 win over Newcastle on Friday.
He may not even play again since his contract with Berlin expires next summer and there is already talk of him becoming the club's new goalkeeping coach.
Jaroslav Drobny appears to have already become coach Lucien Favre's number one, even before Fiedler's injury.
Fiedler has been with Berlin since 1990 and suffered a similar long-term injury in 2005 when he damaged his elbow.
