A Sotirios Kyrgiakos double gave Eintracht Frankfurt a first victory in four Bundesliga matches as they beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1.
Greece defender Kyrgiakos struck twice in the second half, either side of an own goal from Marco Russ, to propel Eintracht up to seventh in the table.
Defeat for Leverkusen was their third in nine days having beaten beaten by Bayern Munich and then going down 3-2 against Uniao Leiria in the UEFA Cup - although they did progress to the group stages on aggregate.
The visitors showed no signs of fatigue following their trip to Portugal and looked the more likely to open the scoring.
Defender Arturo Vidal should have done better when the ball came to him five yards from goal but fired wastefully wide of the target.
Germany forward Stefan Kiessling was also guilty of missing a golden opportunity to silence the home supporters when he stabbed the ball wide from close range.
And that was as close as either side came in a disappointing first half.
The home side showed a more positive approach after the break and they were in front after 54 minutes when Kyrgiukos rose highest to head an inviting corner into the top-right corner of the net.
Eintracht looked to have settled for a one-goal victory, but with 18 minutes remaining Russ gifted the visitors an equaliser when he headed the ball into his own net following a Bayer corner.
But Frankfurt were not to be denied and once again they were reliant on a set-piece.
Kyrgiakos once again towered about the Bayer defence to head home an inviting free-kick, giving Rene Adler no chance.
