Kevin Gameiro and Marama Vahirua both scored twice as Lorient hammered Boulogne 5-0 to keep the pressure on the Ligue 1 pacesetters.

The pair put the home side 4-0 up in the space of 25 minutes either side of half-time before Morgan Amalfitano completed the rout in injury time.

The result moved Lorient to within four points of leaders Bordeaux - for 24 hours at least - but kept Boulogne in the bottom three.

It was, though, the visitors who carved out the game's first two chances, Daniel Moreira sending a lob just over the bar and Kevin Das Neves seeing his effort saved by home goalkeeper Fabien Audard.

From then on it was all Lorient and Gameiro forced a save from Ibrahima Kone with an angled effort before the goalkeeper did superbly to deflect Vahirua's volley away with his foot after 30 minutes.

But the home side went ahead just three minutes later as Amalfitano's long ball released Gameiro, who lobbed the ball over Kone.

Vahirua added a second in the 45th minute as he pounced on a poor ball by Johann Ramare and fired right-footed past Kone.

Lorient effectively killed the game off three minutes after the break as they again capitalised on a mistake by Ramare.

The Boulogne man lost the ball, allowing Pierre Ducasse to release Vahirua, who played in Gameiro to net his second.

Vahirua scored his second in the 58th minute in bizarre fashion. Ducasse's free-kick hit the wall and the ball deflected off Vahirua's midriff and past Kone.

Kone prevented further damage with a block from Gameiro, while Fabien Robert wasted a chance to grab a consolation for Boulogne with three minutes to go.

Gabriel Penalba then had his low shot saved by Kone, but Amalfitano did make it five for Lorient two minutes into time added on.

He fired home a fierce volley after the visitors had failed to properly clear a corner.
