Claude Makelele has ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract at Paris St Germain.
The former Chelsea midfielder has penned an extension that binds him to the capital club until 2010.
Reports had suggested Makelele was ready to leave the club but the departure of coach Paul Le Guen, with whom he did not see eye-to-eye, has convinced him to stay.
After productive talks with new incumbent Antoine Kombouare the 36-year-old has put pen-to-paper.
"Staying on in Paris was my aim at the end of the season," he said.
"I'm happy to take this decision and I hope that we're going to achieve an emotion-filled season for the players."
Makelele joined PSG from Chelsea in 2008.
