Rennes stretched their unbeaten run to eight games as they twice came from behind to grab a point against Le Mans.
Yao Gervinho gave the visitors an early lead but Jimmy Briand equalised almost immediately for Guy Lacombe's side.
Mathieu Coutadeur put Le Mans back ahead from the penalty spot before Mickael Pagis struck 12 minutes from time to earn Rennes a share of the spoils.
Le Mans opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Gervinho latched onto a pass from Fredrik Stromstad before beating Nicolas Douchez with a left-footed shot.
However, Rennes pulled level four minutes later as Briand finished a flowing move with a delightful lob over Yohann Pele.
Home goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez made a fine save after 26 minutes to deny Gregory Cerdan, but Le Mans were not to be denied a second goal and retook the lead seven minutes later.
Kader Mangane was penalised for handling the ball in the area and Coutadeur sent Douchez the wrong way from the spot.
Gervinho tested Douchez again in first-half injury time and the visitors went even closer to adding a third midway through the second period when Stromstad's deflected strike brushed the post.
Rennes then grabbed their second equaliser of the game as Pagis controlled a cross from Sylvain Wiltord on his chest before slotting the ball past Pele.
The hosts almost snatched all three points in injury time, but Pagis' left-footed strike clipped the outside of the post.
