Benito Carbone has signed a two-year deal with Como - and his agent is confident former club Bradford can agree a pay-off with the Italian.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been training with the newly-promoted Serie A outfit, and his agent on Thursday revealed he has signed for the club.

Gianni Paladini said: "Beni is a Como player. He has trained with them - now he has signed a contract and he's playing with them."

The news ends Carbone's incident-packed stay at Bradford, who he joined on a free transfer nearly two years ago when they were in the Premiership.

When a move to join the Teessiders - who he finished last season on loan at - collapsed, it put Bradford's future in jeopardy.

It is believed the Italian is owed £3-4million for the remainder of his four-year contract, and Bantams boss Nicky Law claimed on Thursday the club could go out of business if he refuses to compromise on the cash owed.

But Paladini claimed a deal could be struck between club and player - and that Carbone does not want to see the Bantams go out of business.

He continued on Radio 5 Live: "Everything is in the hands of the legal people. There will be an agreement I'm sure between the two parties.

"Beni does not want Bradford to go bankrupt - definitely not."

Paladini acknowledged the player would not get the full sum he is owed, and when questioned as to whether the figure he will accept is near the £800,000 which has been reported, he said: "More or less."

The agent continued: "My advice to him is to take that - people do not want court cases and things like that.

"Who will win if it goes to court? The only people who will benefit are the solicitors.

"Beni is happy at Como now so it's not a case of him not having a club."

However, Paladini said: "It was a mistake on the part of Bradford to give him that money in the first place.

"Tell Bradford not to worry. We hope they get up in the Premier Division - but next time they should be more careful.

"How would you feel if someone offered you something and doesn't give you it? You'd feel a bit annoyed."

Carbone moved to Sheffield Wednesday for £3million in 1996 and also played for Aston Villa and Derby, the latter on loan.

And Paladini said: "He loves England and has had a lovely time there - but people move on."

"It was a good experience for him. He stayed five years. He enjoyed it and liked the way of life, he speaks English and so do his children. But it's all in the past now."
