Lincoln City vice-chairman Bob Dorrian is confident the club will be granted international clearance for Bermuda winger Khano Smith.
Smith, 28, has been offered a short-term deal by the Imps, having played for United States Major League side New York Red Bulls this season.
The player has scored seven goals in 24 international appearances for his country.
Dorrian told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We are trying to get international clearance for Khano Smith.
"He is currently in the States trying to resolve a couple of issues."
He added: "We are expecting him back by the weekend. He has been with us for a couple of weeks and is fully fit and we would hope he may even be involved in the Torquay game the week after next."
