Ipswich defender David Wright has assured the club's fans that they will soon have smiles on their faces again.

The Tractor Boys host Watford in the Coca-Cola Championship on Tuesday night still rooted to the bottom of the table after failing to secure a win in their opening 12 games.

Wright made his first appearance for almost two months as Ipswich came from behind at the weekend to draw 1-1 with Swansea, and the full-back believes the team can build upon that performance and notch the elusive victory against the Hornets this evening.

"Yes, the table never lies," Wright told the Ipswich and Felixstowe Evening Star.

"And I can fully understand our fans' frustration. But I do ask them to show as much patience as possible.

"I can assure them that we are not far from putting a big smile on their faces.

"We showed great character to hit back after going a goal behind and with the good people we have in the squad we are sticking together to get it right.

"You only have to look at the squad we now have to see that it is good enough to soon click into gear and start flying.

"There are positives we can take from Saturday's match into tomorrow night's game and three points will be our target."

At the top end of the table, leaders West Brom will be aiming to continue their return to form as they take on Swansea at The Hawthorns.

Summer signing Jerome Thomas scored twice in the Baggies' 3-1 victory over Reading on Saturday and insists the team must be looking to win every single game in order to cement their bid for automatic promotion as quickly as possible.

"If you want to be promoted in the top two it's imperative that you win most of your home games," Thomas told the club's official website.

"So on Tuesday we've got to win, but we've got Coventry away on Saturday and we will be going there to win as well.

Second-placed Newcastle are looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest with a positive result at Scunthorpe.

Cardiff, who currently lie third, are at home against Coventry while Middlesbrough, who are level on points with the Bluebirds in fourth, welcome Derby to the Riverside.

Blackpool will be looking to retain their place in the top six as they host Sheffield United, as will Preston, who travel to Sheffield Wednesday.

Elsewhere, two in-form sides meet at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest entertain Barnsley, Bristol City host struggling Plymouth, QPR take on Reading, Crystal Palace make the trip to Leicester and Doncaster play Peterborough.
