Hearts winger Andrew Driver has flown home early from the club's tour of the south of England to undergo tests on a heel injury.
The 21-year-old played in Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Southampton but suffered discomfort in his foot.
Hearts are taking no risks and Driver - a summer signing target for both Coventry and Burnley - will miss Wednesday's friendly with Plymouth in order to get to the root of the problem.
"We don't think it is a serious problem but we want to have a closer look at it," manager Csaba Laszlo told Hearts News.
"It's more a precaution than anything else but the scans will confirm the best course of treatment for him.
"Yes, it is disappointing to lose him for Wednesday's game but it is more important we get this sorted as quickly as possible."
Meanwhile, football agent Paulo Barbosa, a long-time contact of owner Vladimir Romanov, has claimed Portuguese trialists Joao Moreira and Zezinando have signed three-year contracts with Hearts.
Former Valencia striker Moreira, 23, recently left SC Beira Mar while Portugal Under-20 international Zezinando is a defensive midfielder.
