Hull midfielder George Boateng expects a tough afternoon against Manchester United next weekend - even if their kit man takes the field.
The Tigers' battle for survival in the Barclays Premier League now hinges on their final match against the newly-crowned champions on Sunday.
It is a daunting prospect but, with the title wrapped up, there have been suggestions United might field an under-strength side at the KC Stadium as attention turns to the Champions League final.
That offers Hull some hope but Boateng is well aware of the strength in depth United possess.
The Dutchman said: "I wouldn't expect Manchester to do us any favours.
"I know three days later they have a massive Champions League final, I hope their kitman will get a mention on their teamsheet - but he might be a very good player.
"They won't want to risk any players getting injured but they have a duty. Other teams will complain if they don't field a strong team."
Should Hull slip up, they at least have the insurance of a one-point advantage over Newcastle, who face a tricky task of their own at Aston Villa.
Having lifted themselves above the Magpies and out of the bottom three with a 1-1 draw at Bolton on Saturday, Boateng is now convinced the Tigers can finish the job.
The 33-year-old said: "Before the game people were very negative about Hull, we were already condemned.
"But I said to the lads we were condemned before the season kicked off.
"I think the way we have played through the whole season, we deserve to be in the Premier League.
"The belief in the team is back. With hard work we have realised we can still play good football."
Boateng believes a draw might even be good enough for Hull given the difficulty Newcastle might face at his former club Villa.
He added: "I am confident if we can get a point - I don't see Newcastle winning at Villa Park.
"Aston Villa will want to finish their season on a high and I would expect them to do their duty.
"But it is about us. We have to keep one eye on other results but whatever team Manchester United put out it will be a great team."
