1641: Manchester City goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson had been linked with a move to Galatasaray but Johan Eriksson has brought us some quotes from Tord Grip in the Swedish press today. He felt that at his age, he had one last chance of a major contract and we couldn't persuade him otherwise. He's a fantastic player, greatly admired by the chairman and myself and we wish him well."

1415: Mark Nicol has entered our 'spottings' competition (which has no prize other than transfer centre kudos) by claiming he's heard that Celtic's Scott Brown was being shown round Rangers' training facilities this morning. That surely can't be true? Can it?
1410: Sam MacKerras, a regular contributor for us this January, says "it's official" in regards Benjani Mwaruwari's move to Manchester City and says it has cost 13.1m Euros. He also says Jermain Defoe has moved to Portsmouth for 12m Euros. However we have yet to receive official news of this yet so stay tuned for confirmation.

1235: Even bigger news just in from Holland and Marco van Basten has confirmed he has held talks with a delegation from Eredivisie giants Ajax. The current Dutch boss will step down from his post after Euro 2008 and has been strongly linked with the top job at the Amsterdam ArenA.
1230: An update from Holland now and midfielder Orlando Engelaar is set to sign a new deal at FC Twente to keep him at the club until summer 2011. The 28-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Ajax and Portuguese side Porto, but Twente chairman Joop Munsterman said he was close to extending his stay at the Arke Stadion.

1220: Staying in Scotland, Jim O'Brien is joining Dundee United on loan from Celtic. South of the border, Lee Bullock has completed a permanent move to Bradford from Hartlepool. The 26-year-old midfielder has signed an 18-month contract after impressing during a loan spell.
1217: Celtic midfielder Jiri Jarosik is reportedly set to join Russian club FC Krylya Sovetov Samara. His agent Pavel Zika is quoted as saying: "It is set to be signed."

1140: The transfer of Gilberto from Hertha Berlin to Tottenham Hotspur has collapsed, according to the Bundesliga club.
The player underwent a medical in London on Sunday and both clubs had reached an agreement over a fee, however the deal has been called off after results of a second medical today "prevented a contract between the player and Tottenham Hotspur from being concluded to the original conditions".
1135: Birmingham have reportedly rejected a bid from Coventry for Martin Taylor. The Sky Blues are believed to have made an offer in the region of £1million for Taylor, but the Blues didn't want to sell.
1132: There's been a couple of transfers in Spain's Primera Liga. Firstly Villarreal have boosted their ranks with the loan signing of Uruguayan international Sebastian Eguren while Racing Santander have made their third signing of the transfer window by bringing in Sergio Daniel Orteman on loan.
1130: Manchester City have pulled out of a deal with Schalke to bring Soren Larsen to the club, according to sources in Denmark. Shalke had reportedly accepted a transfer bid of around £3.7million but City have seemingly withdrawn their interest in the Danish striker.
1125: Iraq will step in to appeal the British Government's decision to deny its top player Nashat Akram a work permit to join Manchester City. Iraq's football president Hussein Saeed said: "I don't know why this has happened, he is an exceptional player, capable of playing in the English Premier League."

1110: Doncaster have cancelled Bruce Dyer's contract by mutual consent. The striker has been blighted with injury over the past couple of seasons and has seen first-team opportunities at Keepmoat Stadium limited this term.
1100: Coventry have rejected Nottingham Forest's new bid of £1.25million for Leon Best. The League One club have been chasing the striker all month but after another failed attempt, you just have to wonder if they'll get there man with just over 13 hours to go.
1050: Reading teenagers Alex Pearce and James Henry have joined Glenn Roeder's Norwich on loan. Pearce, 19, will stay at Carrow Road until the end of the current campaign while Henry is on an emergency loan until 28th April.
1045: Tottenham have ruled out a move for Newcastle's Charles N'Zogbia. Earlier today N'Zogbia's agent claimed the Frenchman would like a move to White Hart Lane but Spurs have dismissed reports they made an approach for him.
1035: Portsmouth have reportedly launched a late bid for Tottenham's Jermain Defoe. According to the Daily Mirror, Harry Redknapp last night put in a £9million bid for the striker. The news comes after Manchester City reportedly made a bid for Portmouth's top goal scorer Benjani.
1030: Watford have signed Sheffield United defender Leigh Bromby for an initial £600,000 fee.
1020: Manchester United youngster Manucho is set to be loaned out to Panathinaikos for the rest of the season. The striker is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford and they want him to gain valuable first-team experience with the Greek giants.
1006: Gary McAllister could be poised to make a significant signing for Leeds after Stockport accepted their bid for striker Anthony Elding.
0955: Mohamed Sissoko has claimed he rejected overtures from Newcastle and Tottenham to join Juventus from Liverpool. "A lot of people were interested in me, notably Tottenham and Newcastle," said Sissoko.
0945: Overseas news now and Auxerre have bolstered their squad with the double signing of Julien Quercia from Sochaux and Vlad Munteanu from Wolfsburg. Quercia, a France Under-21 forward, joins for around one million euros on a three-and-a-half-year deal while Romania midfielder Munteanu, 27, has been drafted in on loan until the end of the season, with the prospect of signing him permanently in the summer.

0845: Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan has revealed his disappointment at failing to sign Aston Villa defender Gary Cahill who has instead opted to move to Bolton.
