Owen Hargreaves has revealed his desire to play in the Premiership - but the England midfielder admitted it would take an offer from one of the leading clubs to tempt him away from Bayern Munich.
Hargreaves has won more medals than most players during his time in Germany - the Champions League in 2001, the World Club Championship, four Bundesliga titles and three German FA Cup triumphs.
He has held talks in the past with Arsenal and Tottenham and a move into the top flight in England still appeals, but only with a club capable of enjoying similar success as Bayern.
Hargreaves, who could be used in the holding role if Sven-Goran Eriksson decides on a defensive midfielder, said: "It would be wonderful to play in the Premier League.
"But I am at a club, Bayern Munich, who are guaranteed almost every year at least being in the Champions League quarter-finals.
"I spoke to Arsenal after we won the Champions League in 2001 and at the time Bayern didn't want to release me.
"I spoke to Tottenham two years ago when we'd just got a new manager at our club so I said 'I'll wait and see.'
"Basically those are the only two concrete offers I have ever had from England. With Bayern being the club they are, it would be difficult to leave just to go to any old club in England.
"There would be no reason to leave Bayern after winning the double two years in a row, just to play in England for the sake of it.
"I think I've had 40 appearances in the Champions League and to play in that every season is a great experience.
"If I wasn't playing at Bayern Munich it would be different but basically I've always played. I feel blessed to have experienced what I have.
"If I wasn't at a club like that, I would be with a club in England, but Bayern have been very good to me and I've had some great successes."
Hargreaves flew into Germany with the remainder of the England squad yesterday evening and admits opinion is divided as to how the host nation will perform.
He said: "In England people are a bit more passionate and football is a bit more important. But, with hosting the World Cup, people are very excited here.
"It's a time when Germany have a good squad but possibly not a team like they had in 1990. Some people are optimistic and some are a bit pessimistic. Thoughts are divided."
