Reading club captain Graeme Murty has joined Charlton on a one-month loan deal.
The defender made his first appearance of the season in Saturday's FA Cup tie at Cardiff after recovering from calf and hamstring injuries.
The move should give him the opportunity to build his match fitness for the latter stages of the season when Murty's experience could be crucial to Reading's promotion ambitions.
Director of Football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "Murts has just come back to fitness after six months out and needs to get some games under his belt, so hopefully this loan move will give him that opportunity."
Murty has made more than 300 appearances for the club since joining from York in 1998.
