Picture Bordeaux can follow up their cup win.

THE LIGUE 1 RUN-IN

With just four rounds of fixtures remaining in Ligue 1, there is still plenty to play for at both ends of France's top flight.

Here, we look at the runners and riders in the race for the title and the Champions League spots, as well as the battle to avoid the drop into Ligue 2:

TITLE

Marseille (1st, 68 points, +27 goal difference) - Will want to send coach Eric Gerets, departing for pastures new at the end of the season, off on a high but can they fend off rampant Bordeaux? Unlike with Les Girondins' run-in, there are no easy victories in OM's final four matches and their fans - without a trophy to celebrate since 1993 - could be set to be disappointed once again.

Remaining fixtures: Nice (a), Lyon (h), Nancy (a), Rennes (h).

Prediction: 2nd

Bordeaux (2nd, 68 points, +26 goal difference) - Have won seven league matches in a row, have just been crowned the Coupe de la Ligue champions and confidence is sky-high. Valenciennes away looks their only tough fixture and only a fool would bet against them going on to secure the league-and-cup double, especially with playmaker Yoann Gourcuff in supreme form.

Remaining fixtures: Valenciennes (a), Le Mans (h), Monaco (h), Caen (a).

Prediction: Champions

THIRD POSITION/FINAL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLACE

Lyon (3rd, 61 points) - Their two home games should be bankers but, on current form, they will be struggling to pick up wins from visits to Marseille or Toulouse. Lyon finishing outside France's top three would have been unthinkable at the start of the season but there is a genuine chance that could happen if they do not pull their act together.

Remaining fixtures: Nantes (h), Marseille (a), Caen (h), Toulouse (a).

Prediction: 3rd

Paris St Germain (4th, 60 points) - If they get to the final weekend with their hopes still intact, PSG will fancy their chances of ousting Lyon for a Champions League spot. Much will depend on how they react to last weekend's home defeat to Rennes but Valenciennes away is the only worrying match on paper for coach Paul Le Guen.

Remaining fixtures: Le Mans (a), Auxerre (h), Valenciennes (a), Monaco (h).

Prediction: 4th

Toulouse (5th, 58 points) - Have the toughest run-in of the challengers for third place and may even need to beat Lyon at home on the final weekend to claim fifth spot and a place in next season's Europa League.

Remaining fixtures: Lille (h), St Etienne (a), Nice (a), Lyon (h).

Prediction: 5th

RELEGATION

Le Havre (20th, 24 points) - Need the miracle of miracles to survive and will probably be relegated on matchday 35, when they take on drop-zone rivals St Etienne.

Remaining fixtures: St Etienne (h), Lorient (a), Lille (h), Nice (a).

Prediction: relegated

St Etienne (19th, 33 points, -21 goal difference) - Have enough quality in their squad to stay up, even though their big-name players are not producing the goods at the moment. Les Verts' home form remains decent and that alone should see them survive a dire campaign.

Remaining fixtures: Le Havre (a), Toulouse (h), Auxerre (a), Valenciennes (h).

Prediction: safe

Nantes (18th, 33 points, -18 goal difference) - Won just once since January and were left reeling this weekend following a home defeat to rock-bottom Le Havre. Coach Elie Baup produced something special to keep Toulouse up last season but he has not got as much talent at his disposal at Les Canaris, who are set for a return to Ligue 2 after just one season back in the top flight.

Remaining fixtures: Lyon (a), Rennes (h), Sochaux (a), Auxerre (h).

Prediction: relegated

Sochaux (17th, 33 points, -11 goal difference) - Have the firepower in strikers Mevlut Erding and Vaclav Sverkos to stay up, while a benign fixture list is in their favour too. None of their future opponents are in the current top nine and coach Francis Gillot is wily enough to engineer a way out of trouble for the second year running.

Remaining fixtures: Monaco (h), Caen (a), Nantes (h), Grenoble (a).

Prediction: safe

Caen (16th, 34 points) - Have a hellish run-in, with Lyon and Bordeaux their final two matches, so will probably need four - or even six - points from games against Rennes and Sochaux to survive. They could rue conceding so many late goals over the past two months.

Remaining fixtures: Rennes (a), Sochaux (h), Lyon (a), Bordeaux (h).

Prediction: relegated
