Levante defender Luis Manuel Rubiales insists he and his team-mates are fully committed to going through with their threatened strike next weekend unless a solution can be found to their claim over unpaid wages.
The Levante playing staff announced on Thursday they intended to go on a 48-hour strike on April 26 and 27, the weekend they are due to play against Recreativo Huelva in the Primera Liga, unless they are paid wages they claim are still owed.
In response to that, Levante's board of directors released a statement accusing the squad of "seriously damaging" the Spanish league, but Rubiales said on Saturday: "We think that what is more inappropriate is not to be paid our contracts.
"In two seasons we have received between 20% and 25% of what we had signed for."
Rubiales, who is one of the club captains at Levante, also warned that the threat of strike action is no bluff.
"In the same way that a strike can be called, it can also call be called off," he said in Marca. "We are open to any negotiations which will allow us to find a solution to the problem.
"This is an option but nobody should think that we are bluffing, we are going to see this through to the end."
