Two Alemannia Aachen players have been punished by the club after being involved in a car crash while under the influence of alcohol on Sunday.
Marius Ebbers and Jan Schlaudraff were both in the latter's Porsche, which crashed on the motorway near to the city in the west of Germany.
Ebbers was driving the vehicle at the time, and a blood test showed he was over the legal driving limit when he lost control, slamming several times against the central reservation before coming to a standstill without either player being injured.
His driving licence was confiscated, and now he has lost his place in the Aachen team for Saturday's Bundesliga match with Bayern Munich.
"I hope this was the last such incident," said coach Michael Frontzeck.
Schlaudraff, who will move to Bayern on a free transfer in the summer, has been handed a fine for his involvement in the incident, which took place at 9.30am.
However, he will be able to play against his future employers on Saturday.
