Mohsni grateful to Shrimpers

Bilel Mohsni insists he will always appreciate Southend for the opportunity they gave him and has hailed manager Paul Sturrock.

Mohsni: Grateful to Sturrock

Mohsni finally found a route out of the Essex club earlier this month, penning a three-month loan deal with Championship side Ipswich.

The undoubtedly talented 25-year-old was at the centre of several disciplinary issues during his two years at Roots Hall and refused to return to the League Two outfit over the summer, despite being under contract for another year.

Trials with a handful of clubs followed, with Mohsni claiming the Shrimpers rejected an offer from West Ham having wanted £800,000 plus bonuses for his services. But he has now found stability, until January at least, at Portman Road.

And he told the Green'Un: "I know Southend want to sell me so we will have to see how I do. If I can get into the starting 11 then I think then maybe I can get a contract here.

"Paul Sturrock has been a very good with me and I have nothing bad to say against him. He's just said, 'All the best' and 'Play like you can', to see if I can make it. They (Southend) gave me a chance to play in England, my first professional contract, so I will always appreciate that. Now it's time to move on though."
