Roy Hodgson unveiled his 23-man squad for the World Cup on Monday afternoon with a number of his youthful selections odds-on to start against the Italians in Manaus on June 14.

Barring any hiccups in the build-up, Joe Hart, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney will be the backbone of the side as they are all currently 1/20 with Sky Bet to get the nod for the opener.

The back four looks pretty much set as well with Gary Cahill (1/8), Glen Johnson (1/6), Leighton Baines (1/6) and Phil Jagielka (1/4) all trading at short odds.

The midfield options have a more open look with Liverpool's Jordan Henderson (5/6) the shortest price ahead of Adam Lallana (10/11) with Raheem Sterling (11/10), Jack Wilshere (6/5) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a 5/4 chance.

The more experienced pair of James Milner and Frank Lampard are currently priced at 11/8 and 5/2 by Sky Bet respectively.

Up front alongside Rooney, Daniel Sturridge (1/12) and Danny Welbeck (8/11) look the most likely selections for Hodgson ahead of Ricky Lambert (16/1).

Sky Bet Football Trader Marcus Berry said: "The team picks itself apart from the midfield players with Welbeck, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Stirling all competing for similar positions.

"From past history we would not rule out a last minute injury to an important player though!"

England are 28/1 with Sky Bet to win the World Cup but the firm make an exit at the group stage the most likely outcome at 6/5.
