Louis van Gaal has been installed as Sky Bet's odds-on favourite to become the next Manchester United manager after David Moyes was sacked on Tuesday morning.
Moyes' miserable reign at Old Trafford comes to an end less than one season into a six-year contract signed last summer, with defeat at former club Everton on Sunday - United's 11th in the league in 34 matches.
Van Gaal, who is due to lead the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, heads the betting with Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp the 11/1 second-favourite.
Ryan Giggs has been placed in charge on an interim basis, starting against Norwich on Saturday, and he is 14/1 to get the job full-time, while Sir Alex Ferguson is 28/1 to come out of retirement and return to the Old Trafford dugout.
Paul Wiggins, Sky Bet's head of football trading, said: "David Moyes' disastrous tenure has come to an end, and while some of Manchester United's results have been pleasing for bookmakers they haven't for the fans and the inevitable has occurred this morning.
"There has been a spread of money across the four frontrunners in the market with Louis Van Gaal, Jurgen Klopp, Ryan Giggs and (Atletico Madrid's) Diego Simeone all generating early interest."
Meanwhile, Newcastle are 5/2 favourites to be Moyes' next club, with Tottenham (5/1) and Celtic (8/1) next in the betting.
Sky Bet also have a market on United winning their remaining four games of the season under Giggs - they offer 5/1.
