Sky Bet make Liverpool favourites for the Premier League title for the first time this season following Sunday's 3-2 victory over rivals Manchester City.

The Reds hit the market lead with just four games to go - and they know that if they win all four they will be crowned champions.

For the first time, the destiny of the title is now out of both City and Chelsea's hands - the latter were 1-0 winners at Swansea later in the day.

In a game billed as a title-decider in places, Liverpool led 2-0 at half time at Anfield thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel but City drew level after the break through a David Silva strike and a Glen Johnson own goal.

Philippe Coutinho popped up with the winner 12 minutes from time to leave Liverpool odds-on for their first title triumph in 24 years at 8/11.

The Reds ended the day two points clear of second-placed Chelsea, who still have to go to Anfield, with City now seven points off the pace although they do have two games in hand.

City, who began the day at odds-on, can now be backed at 9/4 at Sky Bet, with Chelsea having shortened to 9/2.

Four more victories will see Brendan Rodgers' men, who finished only seventh last season, crowned champions but they will have to play the next three of those without Jordan Henderson who will be banned following a straight red card for a bad tackle on Samir Nasri.

Sky Bet said Liverpool's red-hot form fully merited their position as odds-on shots.

Their head of football trading Paul Wiggins said: "The momentum is with Liverpool now, today was a severe test when pegged back to 2-2 and they came through it in the end.

"The return of (Sergio) Aguero may have come too late for City with Liverpool looking the real deal. They do though face a potential banana skin next weekend when they visit Norwich City who need those vital three points."
