Scunthorpe extended their unbeaten run to 25 games with a 1-0 victory at Torquay that places them level on points with Sky Bet League 2 leaders Rochdale.

Sam Winnall scored the only goal from the spot after Krystian Pearce fouled Matt Sparrow.

Jayden Stockley was sent off in stoppage time for violent conduct for Torquay, who are rooted to the foot of the table, nine points adrift of safety.

Rochdale could only manage a goalless draw at home to play-off hopefuls York and they top the table on goals scored as they are level with Scunthorpe on 75 points.

Max Porter's late equaliser rescued a point for Newport County in a 1-1 draw with promotion-chasing Chesterfield after Jimmy Ryan had given the home side the lead.
