Second-placed Burnley closed the gap on Sky Bet Championship leaders Leicester to eight points following their 1-0 away win over Bolton on Tuesday.

Sam Vokes scored the only goal of the game to sink the Trotters at the Reebok Stadium and extend Burnley's unbeaten run in the league to seven games.

Brighton claimed a 1-0 win over Leeds at the Amex Stadium to end the Whites' mini-revival following the reinstatement of manager Brian McDermott after his botched sacking by prospective new owner Massimo Cellino.

Leeds, who thrashed Huddersfield 5-1 and claimed a 2-1 win over Yeovil in the midst of an off-the-pitch takeover saga, were narrowly defeated on the south coast thanks to Jose Ulloa's 64th-minute strike.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield's defence leaked more goals as they were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest.

Jamie Paterson scored twice for Forest with Darius Henderson's late strike adding gloss to the win which kept the play-off hopefuls firmly in the top six.

Wigan defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at Hillsborough thanks to two goals from Nicky Maynard and a 90th-minute effort by Marc-Antoine Fortune, while Troy Deeney's 33rd-minute goal was enough for Watford to beat Birmingham 1-0.

In the other game, Steve Morison's header for Millwall saw them draw 1-1 with Yeovil, the striker cancelling out Joe Ralls' 64th-minute opener.
