City progressed thanks to a convincing 3-1 victory at Sky Bet Championship side Leicester and will face West Ham in the last four, after Sam Allardyce's side came from behind to shock Tottenham.

However, the Hammers soon drifted to 14/1 having drawn tournament favourites City, despite having the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

Sunderland also caused a shock when beating Chelsea after extra-time on Tuesday, and their reward for doing so is a semi-final clash with Manchester United after David Moyes watched his side beat Stoke on Wednesday.

United will travel to the Stadium of Light for the first leg and are odds-on to progress, with Sky Bet making them 6/4 to lift the trophy and Sunderland 9/1 third favourites.

The firm's Sandro Di Michele said: "The quarter-finals gave us a pair of welcome shocks but it's hard to see beyond an all-Manchester final now.

"United are getting their act together and have the advantage of playing the second leg at home, and both they and City should prove too good over two legs.

"What that means is we could well be in for a fantastic final, with both managers desperate to get early silverware. At the moment, City deserve to be favourites as they look to hold the upper hand and were far too good for United in the league earlier this season."
