Former England boss Fabio Capello was the initial market leader after Andre Villas-Boas was dismissed on Monday but he is now out to 12/1 with Sky Bet, while Sherwood is 9/4 at the top of the market.
Capello is currently in charge of Russia and is due to lead them into next summer's World Cup finals in Brazil but could be seen in the crowd at White Hart Lane during Sunday's 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, leading to speculation that he could be the man to replace Villas-Boas.
Other people with connections to White Hart Lane in the early market included Harry Redknapp, the man Villas-Boas replaced in the summer of 2012. The current QPR supremo is a 33/1 shot - a similar price to ex-Spurs manager Martin Jol, who recently left Fulham.
