A review of Sunday's action in the Barclays Premier League so far, including Sunderland's 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

  • Demba Ba deflects the ball into his own net
  • Ten-man Everton earned a 1-1 draw at QPR in thel ate game

Demba Ba's own goal denied 10-man Newcastle a derby victory at Sunderland as the arch-rivals shared a 1-1 draw on a dramatic afternoon on Wearside.

The Senegal striker could only look on in horror as John O'Shea's 85th-minute header hit him and sailed past helpless keeper Tim Krul.

It was little more than the Black Cats deserved after belatedly making the most of Cheick Tiote's 25th-minute dismissal for a studs-up challenge on Steven Fletcher.

Yohan Cabaye had got the Magpies off to the perfect start with just three minutes gone and as Sunderland initially laboured in the search for an equaliser, the visitors held on to their lead relatively comfortably until a final onslaught.

All the best pictures from Sunday's action in the Premier League, starting with the derby between Sunderland and Newcastle.

QPR are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season after being held 1-1 at home by 10-man Everton.

Junior Hoilett scored his first league goal for Rangers in only the second minute of the game before an unfortunate own goal from R's goalkeeper Julio Cesar brought Everton level before half-time.

The visitors had Steven Pienaar sent off on 61 minutes after collecting two yellow cards but QPR could not find a winner despite plenty of late pressure.
