The visitors took the lead in the friendly thanks to a superb volley from Mark Bresciano, before the Huddersfield striker levelled.
An own-goal by Jason Davidson and a strike from Ross McCormack sealed the victory for Craig Levein's men ahead of next month's World Cup qualifying double-header against Serbia and Macedonia.
After the game Levein praised Rhodes' impact.
He said: "You don't like to put any pressure on a young guy making his starting debut in international football but he kind of put the pressure on himself with his record of scoring goals.
"He handled it extremely well. He did what I've watched him do countless times, whenever the ball is in the box, he has this fantastic ability to anticipate where it's going to drop and he did it again.
"He could have had three goals in the first half. I thought he handled the occasion exceptionally well, considering the pressure that was on him."
