Shotton signs for Derby
Derby have signed Stoke defender Ryan Shotton on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Capable of playing in a number of positions across defence and midfield, Shotton will provide Rams head coach Steve McClaren with plenty of options.
"He is someone who we've had our eye on for a while and he will certainly strengthen our defensive options," McClaren told Derby's official website.
"He is big, strong and has a physical presence, as well as being a good footballer and having Premier League experience to his name."
Shotton, who came through the youth ranks at Stoke, has a year remaining on his current contract with the Potters.
He has made 69 appearances for the club and scored twice since signing his first professional deal in 2007.
