The 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell with Swindon last season, scoring six goals in 33 starts, prompting manager Mark Warburton to make a move.
"Alex is a player I have watched for many years," the Bees boss told the club's official website.
"He is very good tactically and technically, with excellent dead ball delivery.
"We fought off competition from a number of Championship clubs to get Alex to Griffin Park."
Despite agreeing a 12-month deal, though, Spurs have added a clause allowing them to recall Pritchard during the January transfer window should they wish to do so and also handed the playmaker a new contract to 2016.
Pritchard becomes the fifth new arrival at Griffin Park this summer joining Moses Odubajo, Alan Judge, Andre Gray and Marcos Tebar Ramiro at the newly-promoted Sky Bet Championship side.
