Colombia's James Rodriquez is Sky Bet's 3/1 second favourite to be the World Cup top scorer after his brace in the 2-0 win over Uruguay took his tally to five goals.

  • James Rodriguez took his tally to five goals for the tournament
  • Brazil are favourites to win the World Cup on home soil

The Monaco star opened the scoring with one of the best strikes of the tournament so far as he controlled the ball on his chest outside the box and hit a magnificent volley on the turn that skimmed over the goalkeeper's fingertips and in off the underside of the crossbar.

His second from close range shortly after the break took him one clear of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Thomas Muller, who all have four goals, and more importantly sealed his side's progression into the quarter-finals, where they will meet host nation Brazil.

Messi remains favourite at 5/2, with Germany's Muller priced at 4/1 and Neymar, who failed to score in Brazil's 1-1 draw with Chile prior to their shoot-out victory, has drifted to 5/1.

Meanwhile Colombia's odds to lift the trophy have been cut to a best of 10/1

Brazil are now 5/2 to go all the way after their nail-biting triumph.

The host nation came so close to bowing out when Mauricio Pinilla's stunning shot from distance struck the crossbar at the end of extra-time but held their nerve to edge a tense shoot-out 3-2 in which goalkeeper Julio Cesar made two saves.

Neymar's spot-kick proved decisive when Gonzalo Jara smashed his side's fifth penalty against the post, which sparked wild scenes of celebration inside the stadium and no doubt across the country.

Brazil had earlier taken the lead in normal time through David Luiz only for Alexis Sanchez to equalise before the break and there would be no more goals until the shoot-out.

Argentina are second favourites at 7/2 just ahead of Germany at 4/1 while Holland and France are the other leading contenders at 8/1 and 17/2 respectively.
