The full-back, who is currently representing his country at the World Cup, signed a three-year contract after a meeting with Hannover's director of sport, Dirk Dufner, in Brazil.
Dufner was delighted with the new recruit, Hannover's second this summer after signing Joselu from Hoffenheim.
"His call-up to the World Cup squad just underlines his qualities and potential," Dufner said.
"Miiko is a promising player and we believe he will strengthen Hannover.
"We feel he has everything it takes to make it in the Bundesliga."
Albornoz was called up to the Chile squad for the first time this year, earning a place on their World Cup team after picking up just two caps.
