The Bayern Munich forward led the way in Germany's convincing victory with a treble in Salvador.

Mats Hummels scored the other goal for Joachim Low's side.

Portugal were already 2-0 down before they imploded completely with Pepe shown a straight red card for a light head-butt on Muller before half-time.

Muller is now at the head of Sky Bet's top goalscorer betting at 3/1.

Brazil striker Neymar and Argentina star Lionel Messi share second in the market at 5/1. Holland's Robin van Persie can be backed at 7/1 and France forward Karim Benzema is an 8/1 shot.

Germany have been cut to 9/2 by Sky Bet to win the World Cup.

Brazil head the outright market at 3/1 with Argentina the closest contenders to the hosts at 4/1.

The United States beat Ghana's 2-1 in the other opening Group G match.

Jurgen Klinsmann's men are now available at evens to make it to the last 16.

Germany are fully expected to reach the knockout stages at 1/100. Portugal are 11/10 to qualify from Group G and Ghana are out at 13/2.

The day's other match in Brazil saw Nigeria draw 0-0 with Iran in Group F.

Argentina, who defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1 on Sunday, are the 1/100 favourites to make it out of that section.

Bosnia have been cut to 4/6 for a place in the last 16. Nigeria and Iran can be backed at 11/5 and 7/2 respectively.
