United produced a battling defensive display to keep the reigning European champions at bay for long periods before Nemanja Vidic's 58th minute header put them in front.

But Bayern ensured they would head back to Germany as hot favourites to progress to the semi-finals thanks to an equaliser from Bastian Schweinsteiger, who was later sent off.

Bayern Munich, 6/4 market leaders to lift the trophy, are 1/4 with Sky Bet to win the second leg at the Allianz Arena and 1/10 to progress while United can be backed at 9/1 and 11/2 respectively.

Meanwhile Barcelona are still favourites to progress from their quarter-final against Atletico Madrid despite being held to a 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp.

The Catalan giants, who are 11/2 for outright glory, are 8/13 with Sky Bet to qualify while their Spanish rivals are 6/5.
