Ajax moved two points clear at the top of the Eredivisie with a 1-0 win at Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday.

Substitute Lasse Schone scored the winner in the 74th minute to lift the Amsterdammers clear of Vitesse Arnhem, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by basement boys NEC Nijmegen.

Vitesse went in front through Dan Mori's 30th-minute goal, but were pegged back by Michael Higdon 19 minutes from time.

FC Twente's hopes of closing the gap on Vitesse were ended by a frozen pitch, which forced the postponement of their match at FC Groningen.

Elsewhere, Cambuur Leeuwarden claimed an impressive 3-1 win at home to Heerenveen.

Elvis Manu got the hosts off to a flying start with the opening goal after four minutes and Bartholomew Ogbeche made it two a minute before half-time.

Jody Lukoki added a third in the 69th minute, with Alfred Finnbogason grabbed a consolation for the visitors five minutes from time.

Feyenoord suffered a setback in their bid to breach the top three after going down 3-2 at ADO Den Haag on Saturday.

Ronald Koeman's men would have moved to within a point of joint leaders Ajax and Vitesse with victory at the Kyocera Stadion, but they were instead two goals down at the break thanks to Tom Beugelsdijk (36) and Danny Bakker (45).

Jordy Clasie (68) and Graziano Pelle (74) did drag Feyenoord level but Roland Alberg hit Den Haag's winner 13 minutes from time.

PSV Eindhoven's poor season continues to show signs of revival and a solitary goal from Jetro Willems was enough to book a 1-0 home victory over AZ Alkmaar.

The left-back struck in the third minute and PSV held out to secure the third win in four games that lifts them into sixth place.

PEC Zwolle are up to ninth after coming from behind to beat NAC Breda 2-1 at the Rat Verlegh Stadion.

Joey Suk opened the scoring after 19 minutes but Guyon Fernandez (50) and Mustafa Saymak (75) turned the game on its head with goals after the break.

Elsewhere, relegation-threatened Roda JC eased the pressure with a 1-0 home win over FC Utrecht, Guus Hupperts scoring the only goal after 34 minutes.

RKC Waalwijk failed to ease their relegation worries as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Heracles in Friday's only fixture.

The Almelo hosts went in front four minutes before the interval through Bryan Linssen, with Mark Uth adding a second after 54 minutes.

RKC closed the gap 13 minutes later with a goal from Damiano Schet but an equaliser failed to materialise and they remain two points off the foot of the table.
