GoalControl won a tender in April that saw their technology used in the Confederations Cup in June with an additional licence for the World Cup which was dependent on the system's initial performance.
Although there were no controversial goal-line decisions during the Confederations Cup, FIFA said it was satisfied following an evaluation process and indicated GoalControl indicated all 68 of the tournament's goals correctly.
The GoalControl-4D system which will be used in Brazil uses 14 high-speed cameras around the pitch, with the indication of whether a goal has been scored confirmed automatically within one second by a vibration and visual signal on each match official's watch.
Use of the system will be subject to a final installation test in each stadium, in addition to a series of pre-match tests made by the match officials.
