Georgios Samaras grabbed a hat-trick as Celtic warmed up for the visit of Barcelona in midweek with a 5-2 win over Kilmarnock in their Scottish Premiership clash at Rugby Park.
The visitors raced into a three-goal lead in 26 minutes through a Kris Commons strike and a Samaras double but Killie midfielder Sammy Clingan, playing his first game of the season after recovering from a knee injury, reduced the deficit with a great free-kick before defender Sean Clohessy made it 3-2 just before the break.
The second half by comparison was an anti-climax with the home side never really threatening to draw level before Samaras sealed the win in the 87th minute with a header and substitute Amido Balde, on for Teemu Pukki, scoring a fifth two minutes later.
Inverness maintained their 100 per cent home record with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hibernian at the Caledonian Stadium.
Two strikes from Billy McKay and one from captain Richie Foran ensured Terry Butcher's side responded to last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen in the best way.
Dundee United threw everything at Hearts and Nadir Ciftci was inches from a winner but the visitors had to settle for a goalless draw from an enthralling Tynecastle showdown.
John Sutton scored a second-half double as Motherwell came from behind to record their fifth victory in six games by beating Ross County 3-1.
Motherwell started well but fell behind on the half-hour mark when Melvin de Leeuw's heavily deflected shot went in off the post.
But Sutton headed into the top corner from a corner-kick in the 54th minute and then finished brilliantly into the other side midway through the second half.
And substitute Bob McHugh provided another excellent finish to secure victory for the home side at Fir Park.
Steven MacLean's first-half equaliser handed St Johnstone a point at home to Partick Thistle as they fought back to claim a 1-1 draw.
Kris Doolan had given Alan Archibald's team an early lead with a precise finish.
