PEC Zwolle's 100 per cent winning start to the Eredivisie season came to an end after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to FC Utrecht.
The surprise early league leaders had won their opening four matches to sit top of the standings, but fell behind on Sunday to Willem Janssen's 50th-minute opener.
However, Stefan Nijland, a substitute just before the hour mark, levelled proceedings in the 75th minute to earn PEC a hard-earned point.
Defending champions Ajax's stuttering start to the campaign continued after playing out a 1-1 draw at FC Groningen.
Lasse Schone gave Frank de Boer's men an 18th-minute lead but second-half substitute Genero Zeefuik ensured the points would be shared to leave Ajax with just two wins from their first five matches.
Feyenoord scored two goals in either half to hammer 10-man Roda JC 4-0.
Ruud Vormer opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark from the penalty spot and Graziano Pelle doubled Feyenoord's lead just before half-time, while Miguel Nelom (68) and John Goossens (85) added the gloss to the win either side of Henk Dijkhuizen's dismissal in the 82nd minute.
Elsewhere, substitute Jonathan Reis struck three minutes from time to earn Vitesse a 1-1 draw at AZ, who had taken the lead in the 42nd minute through Mattias Johansson.
PSV Eindhoven were held to a 0-0 home draw by newly promoted Cambuur on Saturday night.
They could not find a breakthrough at the Philips Stadion and remain behind the pace-setters.
FC Twente and Heerenveen made up the top four after battling out a 1-1 draw in Enschede, Rasmus Bengtsson salvaging a point for the hosts with a last-gasp equaliser to cancel out Joey van den Berg's 64th-minute strike.
The pair were joined on eight points by fifth-spotted Go Ahead Eagles, who stormed to a 4-1 victory at RKC Waalwijk thanks in the main to Erik Falkenburg's hat-trick.
The on-loan AZ Alkmaar midfielder's treble had the visitors well in control before Marnix Kolder put the game further out of the hosts' reach by converting a 71st-minute penalty.
Substitute Denzel Slager pulled one back for RKC three minutes from time but it was too little, too late.
Jason Davidson netted the game's only goal as Heracles Almelo edged past ADO Den Haag, whose cause was not helped by the 72nd-minute dismissal of Dion Malone.
NAC Breda and NEC Nijmegen remain winless in the Eredivisie after each collecting their second point of the season in a 1-1 draw at Rat Verlegh Stadion.
NAC took a fourth-minute lead when Jeffrey Sarpong's fierce cross from the left eluded several players and was turned in by Rydell Poepon at the far post.
But Victor Palsson caught home keeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar out of position to score from 20 yards just before half-time and earn the visitors a point.
