More of the same on the cards

Our Nick Hext isn't expecting much excitement when Blackburn battle Millwall for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals tonight.

Blackburn and Millwall meet again on Wednesday night for the right to face Wigan in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley.

The first clash between the Championship sides was far from a classic at the New Den with a goalless draw not doing much to excite the neutrals watching the match on TV.

Millwall were the better side and should really have bagged the win when Rob Hulse somehow managed to turn the ball over the bar from close range.

The hosts also hit the woodwork through Andy Keogh but frustration reigned supreme and now we must do it all again at Ewood Park.

Blackburn failed to register a single shot on target on Sunday with Joshua King going closest for Rovers as he struck the post with a header.

I expect another nervy game in Lancashire and that makes having a look at no goalscorer in your best interests.

Lions chief Kenny Jackett certainly isn't too fulsome in praising his side's attacking prowess.

"Goalscoring has been a problem for us in 2013," Jackett said after Sunday's match made it three games without a goal for Millwall.

"The win was there for us. It is frustrating. In 2012 it wasn't a problem for us, but I think this match showed that when we do get on top of sides we need to score, and we didn't.

"There was no lack of passion from the players, but we didn't finish. It's something that we need to improve."

Blackburn's recent scoring record is also lacklustre with a goal failing to arrive for Michael Appleton's men in five of their six previous contests.

There is a big prize on offer for whoever makes it through this tie but don't expect it to offer much excitement.
