Making his first league appearance of the season, the Germany international needed only 30 seconds to open his account after coming on as a substitute.
"It's incredible how happy a goal makes you feel after three and a half months without football," he said.
"It was a personal highlight for me, a great feeling, even if it was not so meaningful for the team since we were already 4-0 up.
"I try my best and offer myself. The coach knows what he is doing, and he does the best for the team, and all I can do is be there when he needs me."
The result extended Bayern's lead at the top of the table to nine points over second-placed Borussia Dortmund, but above all it dispelled fears of a crisis after two draws.
"Of course the team is not happy after two draws," Gomez said on Sky television.
"You want to show a reaction and give an answer to everything which is being said outside."
