Our SPL expert Gareth Friel is backing Gavin Rae to continue his fine run of form by scoring for Aberdeen on Saturday.

Gavin Rae is fancied to add to his haul

Aberdeen fought back to claim a 1-1 draw against Dundee United last weekend and this Saturday they welcome the City of Discovery's other side Dundee to Pittodrie.

The Dons sit third in the SPL table and are looking good for an assault on second place behind Celtic. Since losing to the champions on the opening day, Craig Brown's side are unbeaten in 11 games, albeit they have drawn six of them

In contrast, Barry Smith's Dundee have lost nine of their last 11 and find themselves adrift at the bottom of the table.

This is a real chance for Aberdeen to get three points and possibly take over from St Johnstone in second, with the Saints facing a tough trip to Inverness on Saturday.

Dundee have conceded 10 goals in their last three games and you have to fancy the Dons to bag another couple against a defence that looks well out of its depth at this level.

Gavin Rae is a midfielder in good goalscoring form. He has four to his name so far this season, including three in his last four league games.

With all that in mind it's a bit of a surprise to see him as big as 4/1 to score at any time (he's 15/8 with one firm) so we will have a piece of that.

On Friday night, Motherwell host Hibernian at Fir Park.

Fans were left frustrated the last time they attempted a Friday night clash, with that one being abandoned at half-time due to a floodlight fire.

The rearranged fixture ended 4-3 to 'Well and backing plenty of goals could be the way to go again.

Four of the last five games between the two at Fir Park have produced four goals or more, including the famous 6-6 draw in 2010.

Hibs' last six games have produced 22 goals while only Inverness and Celtic have scored more in the SPL.

Over 3.5 goals is a 9/4 shot with Ladbrokes.
