Rhys Murphy is happy with how he has settled into life at Dagenham since switching to Victoria Road this summer.

The striker signed for the Daggers following a year with Dutch second-tier side Telstar, whom he joined having been released by Arsenal in 2012.

The 22-year-old duly found the net on the opening day of the season and has so far gone on to score three times in eight appearances, including a last-gasp equaliser in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Morecambe.

"I've been enjoying my time here," Murphy told Daggers Player.

"It's been easy to settle in, all the guys here have been great with me so it's been enjoyable and obviously we're doing all right on the pitch, which helps.

"It was a weird one on Saturday, really, we got the last-minute goal so that was good but we definitely felt we could have played better, cut out some silly goals that we've given away.

"It was good that we got the point but we still feel there's a lot of improvement to be done."

Having been embroiled in three successive relegation battles, Dagenham have made a solid if unspectacular start to this season, drawing four and winning two of their opening eight fixtures to sit mid-table in Sky Bet League Two.

And Murphy believes boss Wayne Burnett's approach suits his own game.

"I think the way the manager wants to play here definitely suits me, he wants the team to get ball down and play when we can and I think that's one of our strengths," he added.

"When we play against teams and we do get the ball down we look strong."
