The Red Devils skipper has entered the final year of his current deal at Old Trafford.

No talks have been held regarding an agreement to keep the 31-year-old past the end of the 2013/14 campaign.

It has, however, been a summer of change at the reigning Premier League champions and Vidic is prepared to be patient.

He has suffered a number of serious injuries in recent times and appreciates that he needs to prove his form and fitness before thinking about fresh terms.

Vidic said in The Sun following Sunday's 2-0 Community Shield victory over Wigan Athletic: "I'm not expecting anything. I'm just trying to perform as best I can and we'll see where I am and what the plans are.

"I'm not worried. I never like to make promises about how many games I could play, but I feel good."

Vidic insists those around him are also in confident mood heading into what promises to be a keenly-contested Premier League title race - with Manchester City and Chelsea looking to wrestle the crown away from United in David Moyes' first year in charge.

The Serbian centre-half said in The Guardian: "The question has been can we win the title again and I've always said after last season we have to work hard and show we are capable of winning again.

"We will show we can compete for the big trophies, Champions League and Premier League. We don't have a problem with that.

"We respect everyone's opinion but we know the players we have here. We know what the expectations are. Like I said, we are just focused on winning the title and we are not very bothered about what else people say."
