Lennon has been linked with a switch to Everton, following news of the impending departure of David Moyes to Manchester United.

But Wanyama believes his boss still has plenty to offer the Hoops.

"For me, he has been great," he said. "I've learned a lot from him.

"He has put a strong team out there and he is still a very important manager for us.

"I would say he is one of the best managers I have had in my career.

"We have learned a lot and we have achieved a lot while I have been here. We are delighted to have him.

"There is no doubt other clubs want him. We all just want to see him stay here."

The Kenyan is also keen to see the current crop of players remain together heading into the 2013/14 campaign.

He added: "I know it's going to be difficult but, if it can happen, it would be great.

"In football, sometimes players go but I believe everything will be fine."

A question mark remains over the 21-year-old's own future at Celtic.

He recently said he was keen to stay in the east end of Glasgow but has yet to pen a new deal, with a year remaining on his current contract.

He said: "I just leave the club and my agent to sort everything out. You never know. We will see."

Wanyama was named the Clydesdale Bank Premier League's Young Player of the Year on Monday night.

Asked if this has been his best season, he replied: "I would say yes because we have won two in a row and also we have the (Scottish) Cup to play for.

"Being in the last 16 of the Champions League is a great thing for a player to achieve.

"It has been a great season and we have really enjoyed it.

"Celtic is a good club and my team-mates have been great. They have been strong and just a very good team."
