The defender underwent hernia surgery over the summer but has endured a stop-start season since returning to action.
Physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official website: "Paul Robinson is having a frustrating time at present, as although he can train, he is experiencing pain in his pelvic area during matches.
"The hernia repair he had is intact so we are now investigating the pelvis through a series of very detailed scans.
"These are being done at a new specialist unit in central London where Paul is injected with a dye before the scan to enhance the areas of inflammation. The scans will then be read by two specialists in a bid to get to the root of the problem."
