League One Team of the Week - Matchday 8 (Saturday 22 September)

Bowditch: Netted a hat-trick for MK Dons

Simon Moore - Brentford

Young goalkeeper Moore contributed a man-of-the-match winning display and claimed his third clean sheet this season as the Bees beat Oldham 1-0 at Griffin Park. The 22-year-old pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep the Latics at bay, with his best effort coming in the dying minutes when he produced a top-class block to deny Oldham substitute Matt Smith.

Tom Newey - Scunthorpe

The Iron piled more woe on beleaguered Colchester with a 1-0 victory at Glanford Park and Newey helped hold things steady at the back. The 29-year-old also showed his attacking threat by linking up well with interchanging wingers Mark Duffy and Jimmy Ryan to keep the visitors' defence on their toes.

Dean Leacock - Notts County

The Magpies remain early pacesetters after claiming a 3-0 victory at home to Portsmouth and Leacock was part of a steely defence as he kept his third clean sheet with County this season, continuing his solid partnership at the back with Gary Liddle.

Neill Collins - Sheffield United

The Blades had drawn five of their last seven games ahead of Saturday's trip to Yeovil and will have welcomed the 1-0 win, with stand-in captain Collins proving their unlikely source of firepower. The defender climbed to glance home Paul Gallagher's corner in the 55th minute to hand United the three points and ensure they remain unbeaten this season.

Nathan Thompson - Swindon

Young right-back Thompson was a stand-out performer in Swindon's 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth, helping the Robins keep their first clean sheet in seven games. The 21-year-old put in a hard-working shift at the back that paid dividends as the hosts shut out the Cherries, while also showing his potential going forward.

Matt Ritchie - Swindon

Another man to play a starring role in Swindon's commanding win was winger Ritchie, who grabbed two goals to help demolish the visitors. The 23-year-old has reportedly been on the Cherries' radar for some time and he showed them what they were missing when he thundered home a 25-yard opener before adding the Robins' third with a curling free-kick.

Alan Judge - Notts County

Irishman Judge was influential to the Magpies' clinical victory over Pompey. The 23-year-old netted a stunning goal in the 47th minute, driving home from 30 yards to leave goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen with no chance, while also providing the assists to Yoann Arquin's two strikes to cap an impressive afternoon.

Luke Chadwick - MK Dons

The Dons took apart rock-bottom Bury 4-1 on the road and Chadwick played a key role in the demolition, contributing a stoppage-time strike to round off the win. Before that the 31-year-old had posed an attacking threat throughout, setting the ball rolling when his cross allowed Dean Bowditch to volley home the opener.

Dean Bowditch - MK Dons

Bowditch stole the show as the Dons strolled to victory, scoring a superb hat-trick. After grabbing his 32nd-minute opener, the lively frontman added two more in the second half to inspire his side's first away win this season, and could have added more had it not been for Bury goalkeeper Trevor Carson's heroics between the sticks.

Jake Cassidy - Tranmere

High-flying Rovers continued their solid start to the season with a 5-2 triumph at Crawley and 19-year-old Welshman Cassidy contributed a fine brace to the rout. The youngster, on loan from Wolves, applied two tidy finishes from close range to take his tally with early leaders Tranmere to seven.

George Bowerman - Walsall

Walsall climbed into seventh in the fledgling table after the young striker starred in their 3-1 home victory over Preston North End. After James Baxendale had cancelled out the visitors' early opener, Bowerman won and converted a second-half penalty before unleashing a 20-yard stunner three minutes later.
