Rangers manager Ally McCoist has confirmed that Kirk Broadfoot is set to quit Ibrox but he remains hopeful that Carlos Bocanegra will remain beyond the transfer window.

Kirk Broadfoot: Set for Rangers exit

United States international Bocanegra has been linked with a move away from the Glasgow giants.

A number of first-team regulars have already left Rangers after the club was consigned to liquidation and voted into the Irn-Bru Third Division.

The most recent departure was Bocanegra's defensive partner Dorin Goian to Spezia on loan last week but McCoist is hopeful of retaining the services of the American.

He said: "Carlos is still very much a Rangers player.

"There has been no activity or movement or change in the situation regarding Carlos so he will hopefully be involved in our next few games and be here post-window, so that's where we are with Carlos.

"The longer it goes, I would say the more chance of everybody staying."

McCoist is attempting to build a squad before a 12-month transfer embargo comes into effect on September 1.

But he confirmed that Broadfoot has reached agreement with chief executive Charles Green to be released from his contract.

The manager said: "Kirk has agreed with Charles and the club that his contract will be made null and void and he will be free to leave the club from today or tomorrow.

"I think there are one or two issues still to be tidied up there but it looks like Kirk will be leaving the club.

"We would just like to take the opportunity to thank him very much for his services."
