David Fox has expressed his eagerness to stay at Norwich City and is happy to wait until the club's Premier League status is confirmed before learning if he will be offered a new contract.

David Fox: Hoping to be offered a new contract

The midfielder is one of several players who are out of contract in the summer, but manager Paul Lambert has put discussions on hold until the Canaries are at least mathematically safe from the threat of relegation.

Fox has made 64 appearances for Norwich since joining from Colchester two years ago and is enjoying the chance to play regular football in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old is waiting for the chance to hold talks about his future and understands why Norwich are being cautious about offering new contracts.

"I would love to stay," said Fox. "We will just have to wait and see.

"There are others in my situation as well and we will all wait and see what the manager wants to do with us.

"I am sure he will let us know soon. You just sort of get on with it. Whether you have four weeks or four years left, you just enjoy your football.

"The club has been in a very bad situation in the past money-wise so the manager is not in a position to be handing out big contracts and then we get relegated.

"You don't want to see the club in the position they were before and the club as a whole are cutting their cloth accordingly and doing things sensibly since they came to the Premier League.

"It is very easy to get promoted and throw loads of money at the lads and then get relegated and the club are in trouble then."
