The Latics rejected a bid from QPR for the striker during the January transfer window, while Tottenham and Fulham were also thought to be targeting the Colombian.
After seeing Wigan keep his suitors at bay, the frontman will now fulfil his contract at the DW Stadium, with the 26-year-old expected to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Rodallega impressed after coming off the bench for the final 25 minutes of Wigan's 1-1 draw at home to Everton on Sunday, putting in a hard-working shift.
And manager Martinez feels the striker will be crucial as the Latics bid to sidestep Premier League relegation this term.
He told the Daily Star: "It's a massive bonus having him still here and it was a great moment for us when the window closed.
"Although we have to be realistic, he can play a big role over the rest of the season for us.
"It's important that everything is sorted now the window has closed because, during it, there are so many distractions.
"It is difficult to be focused. But Hugo's been working hard to help the team. He showed against Everton that he intends to carry on like that."
He added of the striker's substitute appearance against the Toffees: "Seeing Hugo come on like he did, in that manner, when he showed a real intent to play for Wigan and to help the team, was brilliant.
"That's the attitude we all need to have."
